Keanu
"A
hilarious parody of crime dramas and action movies that is absurd
enough to be funny and smart enough to make you feel guilt free at the
end of the movie."
Finally, we have a funny comedy. It’s feels good to laugh
again.
Jay Peele stars as Rell – a brokenhearted man mourning the
loss of his latest love, but hope lands on his door step one day in the
form of the cutest stray kitten known to mankind, Keanu
(that’s one cute kitten).
Little does Rell know Keanu belonged to a major crime figure in Los
Angeles, and each criminal who comes into contact with the little fur
ball falls so deeply in love with him, they become obsessed with
getting him back.
Now, Keanu has gone missing after Rell’s apartment was broken
into, and all signs point to the Los Angeles crime scene, so Rell and
his buddy, Clarence (Keegan-Michael Key), decide they will take on the
gangs and do whatever it takes to get Keanu back.
Will
Keanu return to Rell’s loving arms?
How far are Rell and Clarence willing to go?
Keanu
is a hilarious parody of crime dramas and action movies that is absurd
enough to be funny and smart enough to make you feel guilt free at the
end of the movie.
In an epic walk on the wild side, Key and Peele bring to the screen the
same chemistry that made them cult comedy favorites on TV by creating
good characters put into silly and dangerous situations that bring out
the best reactions.
Key makes Clarence the ultimate nerd who can’t be taken
seriously as he attempts to act stereotypically tough, even when
jamming out to the soulful sounds of George Michael. He is a perfect
comedic actor who knows how to use his body, face, voice and attitude
to make any line one of the most hilarious you have ever heard.
While Keanu starts to run out of steam a bit towards the end, the rest
of the ride is worth the price of admission as these two nerds take an
epic journey.
Keanu
is rated R for violence, language throughout, drug use and
sexuality/nudity.
